National Museum of Saudi Arabia
Riyadh, KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA
In multiple contracts spanning twenty years, MPP played a pivotal role in assisting Saudi Arabian development teams in the creation of the National Museum, a centenary project to celebrate the country’s unification. MPP staff collaborated with the architects, Moriyama & Teshima, to develop a functional plan which was then realized iconically in built-form. MPP staff went on to work with national and international scholars to develop a program for 9,000 m2 of galleries covering the history of Saudi Arabia from prehistoric times to the present day. With further follow-on assignments, MPP developed an operational plan for staffing and program development for the National Museum. MPP partnered with Reich + Petch Design International to provide a situational assessment of the Museum’s content, exhibits, and visitor experience as part of a redevelopment and expansion project.
